Holiday Party Vol. 3
At the end of each year we at the label gather as a community of workers, supporters, and artists, and celebrate at our Joyful Noise Holiday Party in our hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. We invite our artists and friends. We hang out, we record, and we drink.
But to be honest, 2019 was a cursed year. In a myriad of ways. And that hex even filtered down to our holiday party. This year most of our bands were on tour and/or in other countries on the date of the party... So the insane 10-band recording comp of years past was just not meant to be... However, instead of nixing the recording tradition, we JNR co-workers decided to turn lemons into lemonade and collaborate together on one single holiday song. As you might imagine, the JNR staff is full of musicians, and this provided the first opportunity for us to create a song together. It was one amazing team-building exercise.
We decided to cover The Ramones "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)", led by our own Mark Dippel (who you might remember from the 2018 White Label Series). Plus a couple of our artists ended up contributing to the madness (Thor Harris, Sound of Ceres, Dumb Numbers), and this also marks the recording debut of 10-month-old Olive Hofstetter! It ended up being a magical session. And we wanted to share it with you.
This single is limited to just 100 copies on hand-made snowflake-shaped lathe-cut 7" records (or "Snowflathes") which is super sold out actually! We encourage you to purchase the digital with optional pay-as-you want with 100% of net proceed benefitting the Immigrant Welcome Center.
Peace and Love,
From all of us at Joyful Noise
