March 2018 White Label
This month's White Label installment comes to us through Serengeti. He brought to us his choice LA's, Foreign & Domestic, Your Mountain vs. My Iceberg.
I first met Umar Rashid on campus. He was rapping right outside my dorm. It was one of the most amazing freestyles I’d ever heard, he had everything. Years later in Los Angeles, after becoming best of friends, I played a show with his new band Foreign & Domestic (or the F&D). I present my best friend Umar’s old band circa 2006.

This previously unreleased debut album from LA’s Foreign & Domestic is going to exist in the world. The warm and fuzzy synths blended with soulful vocals over catchy beats create a unique concoction of electronic pop that share memorable, well crafted tales. From “Freeways” in LA, to a girl who’s “Airy” and thin, to a best friend’s advice to “Talk To Her”, to meeting “Erica” in a porn shop, to throwing up after “The Lost Weekend”, they all take you on quirky yet familiar adventures. There are also plenty of computer and robot visions – the life of a “Machine Girl”, escaping to “My 8-bit World” and stealing a chapter from Philip K. Dick’s world of despair in “Do Androids Dream?”. Your Mountain Vs. My Iceberg will help guide you through a world that is both foreign and domestic.
